Please Give me a Future

Please Give me a Future

Tears stream down my eyes at night

When I lay down I think of my friends

Young and innocent like me

Those who have been killed

By people who campaign with poetry

But govern with prose

By people who have no respect for life

The life of an innocent child

I hear the cries of those ones in nigeria

Jumbled with those ones in kenya and somalia

Then I realize the lack of uniqueness in sadness

Then I get scared again

Wondering if I tomorrow I would see my tears

Or hear myself screaming above the noise of guns and shells

But of tomorrow I have no idea

And the only faint hope I can hold on to is that I deserve a chance

A chance at life, a chance to fulfill my potential

I really deserve a chance, please I really do.
