I Don’t Want To Be A Gentleman

I Don’t Want To Be A Gentleman

I don’t want to be a gentleman
The gentlemen are sizzies
They isolate girls and call them their friend
To achieve their ends

I don’t want to be a gentleman
The gentlemen are greedy
They tell lies and blackmail white folks online
Before they are twenty nine

I don’t want to be a gentleman
The gentlemen are dirty
They camp drinks and cigarettes for too long in their pockets
At home and abroad within the markets

I don’t want to be a gentleman
The gentlemen love football
They waste time shouting goals
While others are busy achieving their goals

I don’t want to be a gentleman
The gentleman aren’t creative
They are too orderly
For a life that’s scatteredly

I don’t want to be a gentleman
The gentlemen are foolish
They sit idle in a corner
And create pity party for mourners

I don’t want to be a gentleman
The gentlemen are crazy
They backbite and shout
But smile when you are out

I don’t want to be a gentleman
The gentlemen seek vacancies
They work like bees from nine to five
When they can own the hive

  1. This reminds me of Fela who sang “I no be gentleman at all, I no be gentleman at all at all.”

Quite a nice piece here :)
