The Devils Whiskey: Part 6

“Wow, and where do you expect me to get that kind of money from?” he asked, almost screaming at me.

“Emeka, it’s my mother’s life we are talking about here. When my brother called that she was critically ill, I didn’t have anybody else to call but you.”

I was asking him for only 45 thousand naira and he was making it seem like it was such a big amount. Segun invited me to his welcome party, and I knew that most guests that will be present will come dressed to impress. I wasn’t going to fall my own hand na, I needed to show up looking exactly like one of them or even better. If lying to Emeka was going to get me there then so be it.

He sighed, “Jola, this is so unexpected ooh. The only money with me right now is 50k that I borrowed from Tunde, and I was going to use it to process some traveling papers and maybe acquire some new soccer boots.”

“Okay na, since you can’t help me maybe I will just ask Segun for the money.”

“Who is Segun?” he must have forgotten so easily.

“The old class mate I met the other day……..” I knew I had gotten him with that, I could already smell the money.

“Don’t worry; I will bring you the money tomorrow morning, no need in bringing segun into this.”

Tomorrow was too far, I needed the money as soon as possible because the party was tomorrow evening.

“Emeka, tomorrow might be too late.” I started to cry. “I don’t want to lose my mother.” I added.

“Okay, okay…..I will bring the money to you later in the evening; you don’t need to cry Jola…….I promised I will take care of you and I will.”

“Baby, where are you right now? I can come and collect the money and just take off to the hospital from there.” I insisted.

“Alright then, I was about leaving the house but I will wait for you.”

“One more thing,”

“remember that my house rent will be due by the end of this week……..and you know my landlord don’t like to hear any complains.”

“Oooohhh, Jola!” he grumbled.

“The other day, I told you that it would be better if we lived together but you refused. I don’t have money to be paying for your rent each month and mine too. I also have a family to take care of you know.”

“Then let me go!” I shouted. I couldn’t waste my life playing wife to a man who wasn’t my husband yet.

“That’s what you will say abi?……..Just come and collect this 50k for now. Let’s solve one problem before you add another okay?”

He wanted love but he couldn’t pay the price. As soon as we got off the phone, I was on my way to collect my money.

“Wow! Jola, I must say, you look really beautiful tonight.” He said, as I walked into his car. He was a perfect gentleman tonight; he looked the part and spoke like one. I couldn’t help but noticed the way he looked at me……those eyes were filled with hunger. I blamed everything on my overly tight dress which showed off every God’s giving assets I had. I made sure that the incident with her sister won’t have a part 2 to it. I took my time to carefully dress up and made sure there was no detail left out.

As I got myself settled in the back seat of his range rover, the song on the radio became a disturbance; Davido’s – Aye was on repeat. I took deep breaths every now and then as the lyrics to the famous song hit me. “She no want designer, she no want Ferrari, she say na my love ooh.”

“Are you okay?” segun asked. He was beginning to notice my discomfort.

“Can you please tell the driver to change the song?” I smiled, praying to hear something lighter soon. “Sheybi its love the girl will eat or use to pay her house rent? I asked an imaginary Davido.

Few minutes later, the car stopped and I guessed we were at the venue of the party. When I stepped out, it didn’t seem like there was a party going on anywhere close. The first thing that hit me when I looked up was name written on the tall story building “Queen’s Hotel.”

“Segun, what are we doing here? Is this where the party is being held?” red flags were flying off in my head.

“Hey baby chill.” He whispered in my ears, as his driver started the car. I was this close to screaming at the driver to wait for me as he pulled off the front of the hotel.

I took a few steps backwards, I didn’t want to make a scene but I wasn’t sure what this as all about.

“Segun, will you please explain to me what’s going on here?” I could hear the fear in my own voice.

He moved closer to me, “I promised to make it all up to you, and that’s what I’m doing now…….listen,” he told a strand of my curls and wrapped it around his fingers.

“how about we go inside before you run off, I have a very special night planned out for us.”

“And where are the friends who were supposed to be here also?”

“Jola, What else don’t you understand? You’re the one who’s been giving me a go ahead signal all this while, and now you’re asking me questions like a little girl!”

Was that anger I heard in his voice?

“I didn’t ask for this, just take me home.” I was about turning around when I felt his tight grip on my wrist.

“We came here for something and we are going to finish it.” He held my wrist tighter as he dragged me against my will into the reception area of the hotel.

“Segun, I swear if you don’t get your filthy hands off me, I will scream.”

“Don’t you dare make a fuss.” He warned, as the lady at the reception area starred at us curiously. Nobody was bothered by the sight of a man pulling on a defenseless lady. Even the lady on the reception desk looked at me with envious eyes as if she would rather prefer to be in my position.

“Segun just let me go……I promise I won’t bother you again.” I was scared to death as our pace quickened.

I could hear my own screaming voice as segun forced himself on me. He kept repeating this same words over and over again as he did as he wished. “Come on baby, you know you want this.”

He was a beast, a devil in his true form. I’ve only known tender love never this kind that brought tears streaming down my face.

After he got the pleasure he wanted, he rolled of me and went into the back pocket of his suit pants.

“Take it, isn’t this what you wanted?” he threw dollar notes, lots and lots of them at my face. His laughter was a roar that ranged across the room. I laid there with no strength to move a muscle. The room became quite. He dropped the wine glass in his hand on the table and walked to the bed where I still laid, confused and in shock.

“From today onward, anytime I call for you……you had better answer me Jola.” His voice, there was something there; it was darker and pure evil.

“Do you understand me?”  He barked.

“What kind of a man are you?” I whispered. “You sick bastard! You raped me!”

Then I heard the slap, a very hot one that sounded almost like a punch which landed on my face. He became furious; he held my jaws in his hands and forced a kiss on my lips. He spat out the blood he drew from my busted lips.

“His name is Emeka right?” he laughed, pushing my head back against the pillow. At that moment, all my senses became alert.

“You see, you are not the first but you have been my hardest chase. I know it wasn’t your fault Jola, if it wasn’t for your boyfriend, I would have had you in my bed already.”

He took a seat as he continued. “But guess what? Once his gone, you no longer have to fear………we will be together baby……. just like you’ve always wanted.”

“Oh, don’t you dare hurt him!” I kept screaming those words at him.

“Please leave Emeka out of this, I am begging you Segun.” I quickly got off the bed and was on my knees, pleading to this man who in no time had turn out to be my worst nightmare. No one needed to explain to me just how dangerous this man was anymore, I had had my taste of the bitter him.

“What has he done to you?” I cried out.

“Jola, I thought we’ve set down some ground rules around here? Don’t you ever! I mean ever! talk back at me! I will do whatever I want with you and there is nothing anyone can say about it!” He took the last sip of his drink and stood up.

I prepared myself for another slap or punch but it never came.

He picked up his blazers that was on the floor and said, “If I can’t have you Jola, no one else will……….I have paid for what’s mine.”

I couldn’t breathe, the room became too hot. I was sure I had definitely died and went to hell because I was starring right into the eyes of the devil.

“Adios” he said.

@ufuomaotebele, hmm. This gives me pause. Emeka- impressive dude; he is a man who really is in love, and that can make one blind to the other persons faults and stupid to their wiles. I like him, but he should stop being so susceptible to blackmail. I fear that the way Jola will damage him, he would find it very, very hard to love again. Or maybe i’m just projecting on him, sha.

Jola- she did not deserve being raped, no one does; I wished she’d been insistent enough not to go into that hotel with The rapist dude- his intentions were clear, she did no want to play, so why go into the hotel like a lamb to slaughter, greed? But she did a very cruel thing in trying to rob Emeka of the means to his dream and then showing no gratitude for his generosity. I wonder, has she had sex, like ever, with Emeka?

The Rapist dude: Can an articulated truck hit the guy on his way home? Pleaaasee…lol. I’m voting he dies horribly, so horribly they won’t even find dental samples to identify his waste-of-space remains.

    Good story. Well done.

    1. @Omoniyi-Adeshola LMAO!!!!! your comment on Segun-rapist had me laughing my butt off………. hmm I like the ideas you have paced on my head on how he should be paid back……just might use it!

Emeka is our guy inlove I just hope that soon he starts to see Jola for what she really is.

Jola- lets ot even talk about her sha………no one deserves to get raped like you pinted out. just hope she can set her piorities stright now.

Thank you for reading and for your comment.
