Peju

Peju

Peju
I know Peju
She’s both a noun
and a verb
A noun because
She’s a person
A human like me and you
A verb, because
She prays
and makes her way
Straight
Leading to the intercession quarters
Except for her nudgings
She’s quite unobstrusive
In her fondly voice
She said Sam
Wouldn’t you join the prayer team!
Yes i pray but not so much a steam!
Peju
I know Peju
She’s both a scholar
and a seamstress
A scholar because
She’s a graduate
A student like me and you
A seamstress because
She sews
and makes her cloth
Straight
Leading to the fashion house
Except for her preference
She’s quite interesting
In her euphonious voice
she said Sam
What do you do in your spare time
I said poems and cleverly guarded lines
Peju
I know Peju
She’s both light
and a Yorubian
Light because
She’s of a fairer hue
A Nigerian like me and you
A Yorubian because
She’s kind
and of a compassionate heart
Straight
Leading to the kitchen
Except for her tastes
She cooks for the family before she eats!
In her mellifluous voice
She said Sam
Wouldn’t you join me at breakfast!
No i can’t because longfast!
