Blazin’ Off

Bring the dried logs of your old hopes,
The hollowed-out promises of your yesterdays
Combustible mixes of regrets and faith
The varnished twigs of fading successes
Bring it all here;
Let us build a year high pile,
From the flaked-off rot of 365 days
And make a pyre – a bonfire,
For the old year, blazing off,
With its ashes cast into the burning debris of history.

  1. Yes let us pile the debris, the rubble and the empty, futile fragments of a checkered yesterday and set it all in a heap consumed in a billowing flame of newness of the now and tomorrow to come. Happy birthday fellow.

      @KingsleyA, I couldn’t have put it any better; yours was a classy, grade A comment. So like Ellie Goulding sang: Burn..burn…burn…we gonna burn it up. Thank you for the kind comment.
