The Conversation

The Conversation

Earth: Please, send the rain
And wash my dusty face.

Sky: Tell me the truth
The rain for ablution alone ?

Earth: For I am thirsty and need to drink too.

Sky: Is that all ?

Earth: No ! For the brown grasses to turn green
The flowers to bloom
And the trees to bear fruits.

Sky: And then ?

Earth: The animals will be strong
And healthy.

Sky: So ?

Earth: Man can feed well
And live well.

Sky: Won’t it be too much ?

Earth: No! Animals need to drink.
Man will drink as well
And use the rest.

Sky: If so, why the flood ?

Earth: Man failed to send the excess
To the sea.

Sky: And if the excess is sent to the sea ?

Earth: It comes back to you !

Sky: How ?

Earth: When the sun is awake.

@okemejames, There is something brilliant about this poem but I can’t seem to place my finger on what that is exact. Good concept.

    1. Thanks for dropping by and forget not to dig out whatever u seek. Thanks

  2. This was a nice read – I liked the way the earth and sky were personified in describing the water cycle. I don’t know if the conversation works as a poem, though.

The part about the flood felt odd… as though they were talking about something specific that had happened in the past, rather than describing a usual course of events like they do in the rest of the story.

    Well done, @okemejames.

    1. Thanks @TolaO for ur comment and view. I appreciate
