Dead Bird

Dead Bird

Dead Bird2

I will mourn you even if no band cares to do so

I didn’t expect to see you dead today.

Could it be you were tired of tweeting and flying?

For you should have gone in to your nest to rest

Or even sung some sweet songs to the noon sun

Instead of resting here in this cold field

Though you went your way when you were alive

I have to include in my unprepared oration that

You were the cutest far-off friend I admired

I eulogize you and say, adieu dear dead bird!

  1. Short and touching. Real.

    Good job.

  2. Oh my! This is succinct…
And to think that a dead bird, an unfamiliar friend at that, can be mourned in such emotion filled few lines?
This is good, and I like.

  3. I enjoyed this: graphics, arrangement, depth, diction, well done.

Thanks guys for your condolences. I am consoled!
And the little bird is happy resting now in peace having
been cared for by your most beautiful souls!

  8. This was very touching and sweet, @ostar. I liked it, especially because it was about a seemingly ordinary event that most people might not comment on.

I assume that this was inspired by a real life experience? Is that the picture of the bird in your poem?

  9. @TolaO yes, that’s the picture of the poor bird; but I had to make her dead bed with flowers to send my love to her little soul!
