I am…

I am…

OpenHands2sm

A.

I am this

I am that

I am all that is

My hands are the original force of the winds;

From my very palms, the firmament was birthed.

The tiniest rustle of the deep woods comes to my ears…

Every breathe of mine is the wind behind the bird’s flapping wings.

Bright mornings that herald freshness,

I’ve seen long ago –

The bent of its dawn’s rays…I knew intimately –

The rash orange glowof its dusk…of the color I already had a memory!

For it is me, and I am it…

Do you not see how this soil cleaves to me…

Its lowliest specks have their twin…in me

They, and waters rising…submerging…stir eagerly for an old reunion…

At my presence, the chillness of its liquid expanse melt…the arctics..polar:

From its darkest bowels…it churns with expectation…it revolts in excitement…

Stretching over land’s fringes…it will meet me…it knows me…It is ME!

When you hear the rumbling stampede of the eastern herds…

And the quiet lapping of stilted birds and furry foragers…

It is those without words…responding to my call…

Their blood races faster…their thirst grows urgent…

They reply…they answer…In speechless accents…

For it is I, their them, that calls…

B.

I am this

I am that

I am all that is

I am the noisy whispers of crickets in the field,

And the breathless amour between young lovers…

I am the sand rising in salute to the hop of the pouched kangaroo,

I am the spiral that points the way of the whirlwind…

I am the insistent cooing of a lively conscience,

The Urge that says at surrender: ‘Try Again!’

I am that gentle lowering of grace to hell-damned sinners,

And that tenacious cry of the swaddling babe, wrestling with the first breathe of life…

I am the ageless glint of a Mother’s eyes as it fixes on her Child,

The swelling heart of a Father at the first steps of his Son…

I am the gasping humility that descends on Man

As She surveys the wondrous inexplicable our universe is,

The simple contemplation that looks, worship-ful, to a Greater than…

I am the grinding unsettling that begats invention,

The priceless sweat of a working man

I am the hardy circumstance that unveils character,

The glory that victory bestows –

The ever true balance of Justice…

And though I am no evil

Yet, the green-ness of envy, I am…

The redness of hatred, I am…

The yellow of wasting, I am…

The purple of pride, I am…

The blue of Royalty, It is me…

…And I am All- Everything!!

    1. @topazo…at some point, merely thanking you will seem redundant and miserly for all your kind and candid words. But right now, all i have is my gratitute, my thanks…and i give it out: thank you…thank you….thank you…thank you…

  3. God is the I AM

    1. @Fadehan….Totally true…

But as the Bible says: No man has seen God. But for me, the most expressive representation of God is not in Churches or in Miracles. It is the God in our humanity, God in nature and God in our actions. And so this poem is about that God-continium as shown in the power of our humanity in nature and the fellowship of our humanity with nature.

      Thanks for reading…
