I woke up this morning
Filled with so much longing
People I needed to see
My day mapped out before me

My brother’s tying the knot
I’ve missed him a whole lot
So I’m back in the area
My country called Nigeria

Though turbulence is rife
This has become my life
I need work, love to travel
To do both is a marvel

There’s a lot I can be
After this delivery
There’s much I’ll do on this earth
When my mum brings me to birth

But I never did see
All my plans come to be
Instead I met my own death
As I crashed into the earth

Had my plans been different
Had I quenched my intent
Had I never been conceived
Had take off not been achieved

Because I boarded this flight
I won’t make it home tonight
Ill be stuck on the front page
The Dayscare news on rampage

But now its all over
We’re in the world yonder
What a way to meet our end
In one flight all turned up dead.

Great rhyme, engaging tone, nicely paced narrative, well done.
    the lines
there is much i ll do on this earth
when my mum brings me to birth
is a tad confusing though, i ‘d appreciate it if you could clarify it.

    1. I think those lines are from the point of view of an unborn child.

      Touching piece.

      1. Thanks @nicolebassey, @myne, you’re very correct. I’m humbled.

  2. I see you have got the views of different personalities and I’m so much loving these lines and rhymes! Great job here.

    1. Oh my! Such a compliment. Thanks@chimzorom
