“You are really the most beautiful girl I have ever seen” my best friend said to me as a new set of guys stared at me intently.
“I know” I replied.
I have always been beautiful, my mum even told me that when I was young, many people would stare at me when she took me to school or out of the house. And as time flew I had gotten prettier and at age 18 I was what you would call stunning. I was tall, a little bit curvy and I had an unforgettable face. My face has been described to be a center of attraction. I had an oval face, I had a pair of eyes many refer to as cat eyes, my eyes was not like that of the average Nigerian lady. I had full lips and a nose that many paid to get.
I have had several advances from guys since I was 12, many guys wanted my attention but I never gave it to them. Many of my friends have asked me to model and make money with my face but I don’t want all that. My dream has always been to be a pilot. I knew I was pretty but it wasn’t something I took so much pleasure in. Sometimes I hated my pretty face since people tend not to take me seriously.
“See, Aina. Look” my best friend Kemi said excitedly
“What is it?” I replied
“Look over there” she said pointing at a guy standing in front of the well who happened to be staring at me
“What is there to see?” I muttered
“He is cute” she said
“Kemi, I am here to fetch water not to stare at cute boys”
“So you admit that he is cute”
“That is not the point. See let’s fetch water and leave”
Did I happen to tell you that I am living in a rural area, like in the outskirts of town. I and my parents moved here when i was ten years old. The decision to move from the city to this area had been very difficult for me to accept but I had accepted it with time since that was how I met my best friend who was like a sister to me.
“You are spoil spot” Kemi said
“And you are going to be in so much trouble with your mum if you don’t get a move on”
“Ahh, abeg let’s go.” She said increasing her pace towards the well, all thoughts of the cute guy leaving her mind.
