“Bro” his voice stopped me dead on my track. My legs were glued to the ground, I couldn’t lift either of them,I was stuck.

“Show me love” his grasp on my head intensified, bewitched I reached into my pocket, brought out my phone and wallet.

I felt a hand touch me slightly on the shoulder, oblivious to whomever it was, I looked around confused, wondering why I stood by the road side with my phone and wallet in hand.

“You were this close to being robbed” I turned to the person who still had his hand on my shoulder. “Keep your things safe, this are dangerous streets”

He went away without another word, I didn’t get the chance to say thank you, what a crazy first time in Lagos. I have heard tales of how vicious the streets of Lagos are, I never imagined I will witness it firsthand.
