Will you hear me when I call?
Will you listen when I scream?
Will you stand and take my beatings on your chest?
Will you ask why the tears?
How dare you speak of love
In such passive terms?
How dare you make comparisons
As though the world were one?
You call me beautiful,
Then say you like me.
Who wants to be liked?
Place an ear over my heart
Hear the thumping for yourself
Place your hands on my shoulders
Feel me lean into you
Where are you to just hold and do nothing else,
To listen to my heart and not my body,
To agree with my peeves and fuel my dreams?
Sometimes, I need ears, not an undressing
All times, I need love, not consuming lust.
