Let it go

Let it go

A weight that needs lifting,
a burden that ought to be shared,
words that riot for freedom
tears that itch to be shed-
shed them I must.

If today is a cross
then let words loosely hang
choking the fears that would
come from my silence.

Silence.
Silence, I say.

I will pour these words
that bid me share.
I will lay the weight
that had so held me down,
I will pour the tasty rain that
has refused to be confined to
my eyes alone.

Today, I will lay it down
and leave it so,
caring not about hurled abuse,
today, I live
leaving hurts to rot
where pity has ceased to be.

An exclaimation would have done it here; ‘Silence !’ instead of full stop.
