He was with me
We moved together
Breathed together
Grew together
And then there was her
She came like a thirsty whirlwind during a peaceful night
Unexpected
Unwelcome
Unseen
She came for blood
To her he was mere game
She burrowed her way into his flesh
Not his heart
No, his lust
She appealed to the masses
They loved her more, she was more beautiful
So they trusted their eyes
Then he and I were no more
Until
She showed her colors bright, fiery and all consuming
Destructive, destroying all that was good in and around him
He’d made a grave mistake
He came back for me
But I was gone
Gone with the same wind that brought her in…
Aww! Too bad for him. You don’t know what you have till it’s gone. Sometimes you lose interest in things that matter for cravings for things that don’t. And When you finally get those irrelevant things, you realize that they can never fill up the void of what you’ve lost in the bid to get them.
Nice piece.
@Ivie9ja. Serves him right. I can really relate to this poem on a personal level. Nice one.
Some people have to learn the hard way :-) thanx for the comments
fire and passion is good, but it is not all. I will always choose stability and responsibility and groundedness and dedication over passion. Serves the guy right
Nice poem… Love the piece. Exactly what happens in our world.
Eh…true story? :)
Nice narrative poem. There was that rushing wind that flowed through the words here and I felt it… It sure read like the persona of a woman scorned in full flare…
Nice one Ivie. Nice one!
