Final Escape (2)

Final Escape (2)

Christiana had just arrived from school, she went straight to her bedroom to take off her uniform and change into her house clothes. Just as she sat down on her bed her mother came inside.

“What are you still doing here?” her mother asked.

“Mum, I want to finish my homework and then get some rest I’m exhausted” she answered.

“What are you saying? Have you forgotten that you have an appointment with the pastor and the prayer warriors today” she asked angrily.

“But I thought daddy said I should not…”

“Forget about your daddy, he did not carry in his stomach for nine months and he did not go through the pains of childbirth with me so he doesn’t understand what it means to lose to a child.”

“But dad loves me as much as you do, I know he does” Christiana replied.

“Never say that again, no matter how hard a man tries, he can never love his child the way a woman does, don’t you want us to live this hell hole? Don’t you want to enjoy the good life again? If you get delivered, the evil spirit fighting our family will be sent out. Now get dressed and go and meet the pastor or do you want me to come with you?”

“Never mind mother, I was asked to come alone”

“Good get dressed quickly and leave before your father comes back.”

“Yes mother”

After going round and round, Christiana finally found the place on the address the pastor gave her, it was very close to the industrial estate and she wondered why the pastor had chosen this place for the deliverance prayer, she suddenly felt afraid and lonely but she couldn’t go back home now otherwise her mother would kill her.

Nervously, she knocked on the gate and waited a bit but no one answered, then she knocked again but no one answered again and then she pushed the open the gate and was surprised to find it unlocked. She entered the compound and was even more surprised to see find an incredible mansion but strangely it was looked deserted and creepy. Christiana became too afraid, she had made her decision, she would rather face her mother’s wrath than go inside a place she was unsure of. But just as she turned her back she heard the pastor’s voice and then she turned to see him standing in front of the house.

“I thought I heard someone knocking and I was right, were you about to leave?” He asked.

“Yes pastor, I thought no one was here” she answered.

“This is one of the church’s properties, we use it for special deliverance like yours and since we rarely use it, there is no need for a gate man.” Pastor David said. “Please do not be afraid, follow me all is well” he assured her. She nodded slowly and quietly followed the pastor.

“I understand why I see fear in your eyes, fear is the greatest weapon of the devil, he knows you are here so that we can cast out the evil spirit he put in you to destroy your family that is why he put fear into your heart.” He said as they walked into the mansion.

Christiana opened her eyes wide in surprise; she had never seen such a magnificent sitting room in her whole life, cream and chocolate coloured glass ceramic tiles covered the floor,  a gold plated glass table stood at the centre of the sitting room, the conditioner was making her freeze, the chandelier was also made of gold, the walls were painted white and there was a gigantic television  on the wall, she knew it was one of those new models but she never cared for electronics so she did not know what model it was. And it made her think why the church needed such a magnificent building for? It surely couldn’t be for deliverance alone. She tugged at her dress nervously, her doubts were resurfacing, her father was right she shouldn’t be here there was something particularly odd about this place. If truly it was a mission house, why does it look so deserted? Why are there no church logos hanging around? Where are the prayer warriors?!

“Please sir, where are the prayer warriors” she asked still nervously playing with the hem of her shirt.

“Relax my child, they are upstairs in the special praying room don’t let the devil win this battle in your life”

That was it, Even Christiana wasn’t that stupid. “Sir I don’t think I want to go through with this” she said without moving further, Pastor David looked at her surprised, his look was scary and angry.

“Look young girl I do not have time for this I am doing what the lord has directed me to do and I must finish it, do you understand me?” he said firmly.

“If that’s the case sir, let’s do this on the church premises with my parents present” she replied her voice was surprisingly firm, which surprised her. She knew she would incur her mother’s wrath with what she was doing but she didn’t care.

“I’m sorry my child if I scared you but this is for your own sake and the sake of your family” Pastor David said using a gentler tone. But, Christiana was undaunted.

“Good day Pastor, see you at the church” she said and turned towards the door surprised at her boldness. But before she could reach the door, she felt strong hands grip her and drag her back firmly.
