When I lay me down to sleep
Those sleep so profound and deep
When my eyes are shut for life
And I, done with earthly strife
Will men tarry to merry
With faces spelling teary?
When my relatives and friends
My accomplishments and deeds
will start with me a journey
The last, making the journey
Will some people paint me black
When I am not of that stroke?
When upon my grave they cry
To see me the Last Road ply
Will their eyes and hearts agree
When death comes to set me free
From this bittersweet wild world
Which words will they wear my world?
Will men’s bucal cavities
Create great tunes laced with fat lies
Recounting ear sweetening tales
Of how great I fared this place
When their mind, body and soul
Casts aspersions on my trail?
But I neeed not bother my head
For in the land of the dead
Nothing will reach me again
But what do I stand to gain
If I do no good today
And doom my soul all the way?
