For we were heard

For we were heard

Electric lights took a run
with the shadows before dawn,
our praying voices travel aloud
and the murky chirping night aroused
with alarming gigantic speaking
of known tongues of pastors far-visiting.
They were heard farthest and nearest.
The rickety generator just died off
with the fluttering silhouette of
a candlelight seen at the window slot
of a villager I know nothing of.
Why now? For we were heard.
Inside prayers hurried to God were shared
first by village homes pretending to sleep
but ears wide open, for there will be
gossip tomorrow. And one thing I say,
if God heard our prayers the way
the sleeping villagers did.
There will be goodnews tomorrow, I bid.
