Corruption

Corruption

Corruption, corruption hear the sound
Of your own name,
We hate it.
You are the wicked monster
That has drained our land
You lie to our leaders
You cheat on them
You make a mockery of them
You have reduced our leaders to nothing.

Corruption, you are a robber
Robbing our leaders their position in the land
You place our own leader under
You have sown enmity between us
Leaders on the one side
Followers on the other
You put a discord in between
You make poverty to grow fat
In a land rich like ours.

The names of our leaders are long forgotten
Even before the end of the term
You have taught them to lie
They lie about everything
Not a single truth in the polity
You taught them how to steal
They steal public fund
Siphoning our monies abroad
Just to heap them there.

  1. I totally disagree.

    Corruption
    Is the bed
    On which our leaders lie

    And masturbate on
    Our resources.

  2. You have stated the obvious, but I must confess that there is little or no element of poetry in those lines.

The theme is vividly expressed but it is naked. Naked in the sense that nothing in it is catchy or worth remembering…that’s where resides the richness always.
Poetry transcends the mere expressing of everyday words. Even when put in common language use, something must be left to linger in your reader’s mind, something beyond ordinary reach.

    I hope you understand?
    Keep improving.

  3. Divine, I quite agree with Chime.
I didn’t get any of those creative lines and analogies I usually find in your poems. Whatever happened?
That said, I know you write better. Well done.
