Speak Up

Speak Up

Always in limbo
hanging between us and them
We have lost our voices
just like our fathers

Through the thin they passed
having nothing
for us their journeys
or even having a path for us
because the roads
have been closed before their eyes
and they closed their mouths
looking on
like dumbs

Now the roads are closed
and the paths overgrown
we have to dig or ways
but no tools remained
except our initiation
into that which our fathers had belonged;
POVERTY

We have known why
they had to abide
in perpetual purgatory.
THEY REFUSE TO SPEAK OUT.

They who stole our their
pride and ego
look at ours
with the same old eyes.
holding out sods to us
but we would demand more
AND SPEAK UP.
