Justified-Part 2

Justified-Part 2

“Kevin, my life is over!” Tana cried out, climbing out of the bright yellow taxi.

Kevin hurried out, holding his phone. “Tana, what’s wrong? Please compose yourself. The helps are watching”. He said steering her into the large house with a hand placed on her lower back.

“Kevin! My life is over” she repeated as she sat on the black leather couch in the elaborate living room.

Kevin was Tunde’s best friend and although things had being weird between them, Tana believed he was the only one who could help her out. She had no one else to turn to.

“Shh. Just relax. I’ll get you something to drink, then you’ll tell me what’s wrong” he cooed, brushing his palms down her arms.

Once he’d brought some tea in, he led her to his library and sat opposite her.

“Now tell me what’s wrong”

“It’s Tunde! Oh, Kevin my life is over”

“Relax, tell me what’s wrong”

“We had a fight…he..wants a divorce” hearing her own words made it realer than ever and she couldn’t stop the hot tears that threatened to pour  down her eyes for the second time that day.

“Divorce? Nah that’s impossible. Who in their right mind would divorce a hot one like you?”

“Kevin, now is not the time for jokes. I’m serious. He said it and he walked out”

“This is ridiculous, you’re shaking. Is the room cold?”

She shook her head and sipped from the large mug he handed over to her.

“Tell me what happened”

Tana felt her world crumbling down as she relayed the story. She’d never felt more vulnerable and now more than ever, she realized how much of her strength she got from Tunde.  She couldn’t believe that there was really a possibility of her marriage ending. She looked at Kevin, who gazed at her with comforting eyes.

“What do I do? If he divorces me, my life is practically over. I’m such a fool” now the tears poured willingly down face. Kevin moved towards her and she rested her head on his shoulder.

“No. You’re a smart beautiful woman and if he can’t see that he’s the fool. You’re only 28. It’s not too late to start over”

“What are you saying? Ehn? I don’t want to start over. I want him back! Don’t you understand? Kevin?”

“Aww babe I do. Tunde is very foolish to do this to you. But you’ll be fine. I’m here now. It’s all going to be fine. Just breathe in… good… breathe out”

“How could you?! I told you not to bother; does that mean anything at all to you?” Tunde shouted, his veins more conspicuous than ever. He was beside himself with rage as he looked with digust at the man he’d called a friend and trusted for many years. The confrontation which he’d delayed to this point could be put aside no longer.

“Look, I thought you changed your mind again its really no big deal” Kevin said rubbing his hand across his bare muscled chest.

“No big deal? She’s my f**king wife! Don’t you dare brush this off! I told you not to bother! I said I changed my mind!”

Tana wakes up slowly, surprised to find herself in a strange bed. She slowly realises she’s naked. In Kevin’s house.

“No!” she screams, gathering the drenched sheet around her exposed chest. This couldn’t be happening. She couldn’t just have slept with her husband’s friend. She looked at the opposite side of the bed and found it empty. Her clothes were also gone. In a frantic rush she wraps the sheets around her body and heads out to find Kevin

“It was your idea from the beginning, and at first I agreed but I changed my mind!”

“Tunde, stop being so dramatic. You’re blowing this wildly out of proportion…”

“My wife is pregnant with your baby, how much more wildly out of proportion could this possibly get?!”

“Stop acting like you didn’t agree to this. She’s pregnant. Mission accomplished”

“The point is, I changed my mind! I realized I couldn’t watch my own wife get raped. But you went ahead anyway!”

Tana suddenly walked into the room, having heard the last bit of their conversation. She’s wrapped in white sheets, her mouth agape with shock. Tunde looks at Kevin then his wife and back. Tana does the same.

“How could you?!” They shout at each other simultaneously.

Who’s justified?

  1. Ahhh…

Somehow. I guess it’s because we’ve seen this same plot too many times – and this is not exactly the best telling. I don’t know.

    That’s what I think though.

    1. thanks. I’ll try to do better:)

  2. wow. u succeeded in confusing us o, ur punctuations were odd, but the story itself…… it should get up off the ground and walk, run, or fly. not crawl.

    1. thanks.and I’m sorry.

  3. hmmm, does it end here?

    1. even if it didn’t, with these comments now it does. :)

    1. lol. that’s depressing. I’ll try harder next time to impress you next time. especially you.
