Love this piece very much… The emotion in the first paragraph is palpable…a belt he never wore, returned to a special place after the deed is done, the tears he never shed, always hanging at the corner of his eyes, her own tears flowing freely with an innate understanding love didn’t have to hurt…domestic violence […]

What About Now – Chris Daughtry

    Shadows fill an empty heart
    As love is fading
From all the things that we are
    But are not saying
Can we see beyond the scars
And make it to the dawn?

Change the colors of the sky
    And open up to
The ways you made me feel alive
    The ways I loved you
For all the things that never died
To make it through the night
    Love…[Read more]

‘Heard ‘Em Say’ – Kanye West ft Adam Levine

And I heard ’em say, nothing’s ever promised tomorrow today.
From the Chi, like Tim its the Hard-a-way,
So this is in the name of love, like Robert says
Before you ask me to get a job today, can I at least get a raise on a minimum wage?
And I know the government administered AIDS,
So I guess we just…[Read more]

    • This was when Kanye was making them beats. After his 3rd album, he just stopped making great music, for me at least. Graduation was his best album.

    • And Adam Levine from Maroon 5 is a great singer as well, but they can’t seem to top their 1st album, Songs About Jane.

      • I agree about the Adam Levine thing…and the fact that they ‘can’t seem’ to top that first album…especially with songs like ‘This Love’ and ‘Sunday Morning’…that was/is the ish!!!

        • But Kanye is still making incredible music o…he’s just taking more risks now…experimenting.

    • Kiah replied 9 years ago

there is no better secular song in the whole wide world than Sunday morning…and no one(okay maybe MJ) can top that album so please allow them..the album is a classic biko!!!

Adam Levine is oh so dreamy…this song was my ring tone for the longest time :)

‘Albeit’ works quite well…’howbeit’ is rather archaic, though the two words mean the same thing

  • LOL…

I would also add the Oglers….they go through every FB album – friend and non-friend. Then tell all who would listen they don’t understand why people put their lives on show on FB…. and how they would never do such.

The emotion, the neediness in this is palpable. It reads like someone’s story…hmmm…’you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone’. Hope he gets her back. I didn’t.

    Kiah, your way with words…exquisite

  • Just finished Purple Hibiscus and I wondered why I waited so long to read it.

Papa evoked such rage in me, I absolutely could not understand Kambili’s apparent love and Mama’s total submission…but like you said, still waters run deep as it turned out.

    Nice review of the book.

    Hehehe…that was some dream!

  • Nice work…evokes some nostalgia about job hunting in Lagos…

Some more work needed proofreading, though

I like, like, like, like this! And my imagination was on a roll already! Please watch out for the few typos…especially the ‘i’s.

    Good job!
