IS IT BY FORCE TO WRITE?

Public Group active 1 week, 3 days ago

Is that case of writer’s block getting you down? Do you find yourself constantly abandoning those oh-so-brilliant writing projects halfway? Are you getting fed up with how difficult it is to get your work published?

Well, whatever those writing issues are, this group is here to address them so feel free to air them out. We will not just be each others shoulders to lean – or cry – on, but also a source of encouragement and help to each other. So if you have a writing problem that has refused to go away, or if you think you can be of help to other writers, then you are very welcome.

What awakens the sleeping Shakespeare in you? Do you have a routine? Do you need a push? Yes? What type? Let’s share and grow.:)

For me, reading a novel, watching a film or chatting with friends about anything and everything, may spark up a sentence in my mind that effloresces into a fountain of words gushing out in poetry. So when I need a muse, I get into these activities.

Why do you need to awaken your muse, @nicolebassey?

It’s when you leave it be that it’s at its most inspiring.

Having said that, you can read the works of others who you feel write like you in order to inspire you.

Sometimes, you just have to discipline yourself and sit down and write; that’s if it’s a false writer’s bloc.

And sometimes you just need to take a break and go get refreshed and be re-inspired and re-adjust your focus; that’s if it’s a genuine writer’s bloc.

    I don’t really know.
I just write when I get the urge. There are times when I av this idea running around in my head and don’t just seem to be able to find the right words to express them, at those times I just allow the idea to remain there in my head. Often times, they always come back clearer – 8 times out of 10 when am in the shower(I guess that is similar to @TolaO ‘s trick too).

The Muse is been too possessively seductive….

I’m afraid I may fall in the category of the premieval artistes that were referred to as “idlers”. Many of my scribblings will never be read, I fear. An idea has to be compelling enough to be written for me and to be worthy of readership. I’ll have to brood over it over again and again until the characters come alive in my subconcious . Many stories have fallen by the roadside that way, and what kills them often is my strong-headedness to make the first draft perfect. I s’pose I might churn out more works if I had a capable editor and didnt have to worry about editing. Editing as you write stifles the creative process as I have found out but it is a spot hard to blot out for me , sadly.

hmmmm…but you can put everything down without editing. Then come back to it later. That way you won’t stifle ur urge to write and still be able to write good pieces.

I have sat down and written everything all at once….but I never post them as soon as I finish. I let them “ferment” for a while. That is why you will notice the timelines on some of my pieces are way further back than the date they were actually published here.

    Try it….

Where I’m from, the ‘muse’ does not exist.

And if it does, I’m in complete control over it. We have a wonderful understanding.

I write when where how I want. I dictate the terms.

    Well.

I always thought the ‘thing’ called writer’s block was a fallacy until it happened to me. Ever doubted who you are when you try without sucess to begin or finish some pieces that normally don’t take you time to? Ever ended up in futIlity trying to find inspiration everywhere and anywhere? If you’ve never felt that frustration, you’ve never been through a block.

If you have writer’s block, then you don’t have good muses.

I hesitate to call myself a writer, but I am a master embellisher! I can take the smallest, most inconsequential event and add drama, and it turns into a funny little story. But I don’t have the discipline of writing every single day. I write when the pieces come, and they usually come perfectly formed. Weird, I know, but it works for me!

there might indeed be some defect by such a name but i think what most of us call writer’s block is plain good ol’ laziness. sometimes I have this amazing story in my head, it’s wound through all the reels and the end is so good I want to cry. when i sit down however to put this story down, the thought of the long process of telling the tale just overpowers me. i dont want to go through the whole rigorous tale; i just want to hit my readers with the fabulous ending. many times I content myself with the story in my head wishing there were some other way to tell it. i know this is a funny attribute for someone who claims to be a writer but it remains ny biggest ‘writer’s block’ yet.
