There are times when you may have written a poem, fiction, drama, screenplay or even an article and later wondered to yourself – ‘What the hell was I thinking when I wrote that?’
These are the works that you may have written in the past or even presently then trashed them.
Let’s share them.
I’ll go first.
I once wrote a short story sometime in 1997 that had to do with a guy falling in love with a girl who was actually a rat.
Even after discovering she was a rat, the love did not die…
My skin crawls when I think of it and I keep wondering why on earth I wrote that crappy story…I guess thats why i don’t even remember the title.June 8, 2012 at 7:38 pm #113056I don’t think that’s a crappy story, make the rat a wolf and you see taht it’s not too different from a lot of paranormal novels out there

As for me, it is some of my poems that I read again and laugh.
June 8, 2012 at 10:30 pm #113057“If I were a god” the beautiful girls ran to me for a refuse because they were scared, I thought if I were a god, I would have sacrificed them to the altar of my selfish desire. I let them go….I thought! It was years ago, many years ago.
June 9, 2012 at 6:06 am #113059I always think of the other side of things. I read a story or watch the news, and I want to know the other side of the story.
In the Unholy Bible I wanted to hear what Lucifer had to say on the matter.
In Sex With My Father I examined another possible side of the story where an abused girl liked her abuse.
I want to hear a suicide bombers side of the story.June 9, 2012 at 7:55 am #113060Oh, ok, we mean the stories we trashed…
TeheheheheWell, there’s this rambling I wrote itled To Hit a Woman… I didn’t trash it, but I abandoned it when I read it the next morning. Was I actually encouraging hitting women? *smh*
I think I will post it for wahala’s sake.June 10, 2012 at 8:20 pm #113061Hahaha. I look at one of my poem ‘to my lady’ and I just can’t help but laugh.
June 10, 2012 at 8:59 pm #113062There was this story I wrote many years ago called ‘Short Story’, which strangely enough was about a person who was trying to write a short story. I submitted it for a competition, and I couldn’t understand why it didn’t win. Recently, I re-read it, and with hindsight I can see why – it was too contrived and it felt as if it was lacking context.
I might submit it one of these days, just to see what others think.
June 11, 2012 at 10:43 am #113063Honestly – I’m not sure I’ve ever had a ‘what was I thinking moment’. Honest.
Not to say anything or sound proud – but I hardly ever write just ‘for the sake of writing’.
Most of them come from lines of thought – born out of something I heard, saw or experienced.
I trash my stories – even the ones I post, but not because I think they are ‘poor’ stories but because they hardly ever come out the way I saw them.
That make any sense?

Well…I’ve written at times for the sake of writing.
Those were the times I felt like writing but didn’t have a story or instant inspiration so I just start writing and see where the story leads me to..@Myne…lol, you do have a point, but way back then, I wasn’t seeing it that way.

June 13, 2012 at 10:11 pm #113066Hello, everyone. I’m loving the camaderie in here, i hardly have posts i thrash mainly because i think beauty is in the eye of the beholder, one man’s rat-wolf trash might be anothers new african voice . The key is to keep writing and listening for feedback. i just wish i was more patient though, most times i submit too early,
June 15, 2012 at 11:49 am #113067I once wrote a poem titled ‘Drinking’ and it was in appreciation of ‘Garri water’ which I like to sip because of its sour and wine-like taste when sugar-ed.
I was telling coke and fanta to go to blazes that ‘garri water’ was the bomb.I still wonder why I wrote that…I nev
