I’m still here. I think some people (I won’t say any names…) might be a little forceful in their opinions and intimidating. I’m just saying.

I think @Seun‘s right. They are getting married, raising kids and all that. Some have been banned by their husbands cuz maybe food kept getting burnt while the read Anderson’s poem. And again some must have started requesting for poems from husbands too. Then a few started dating and shagging fellow NS members secretly and of course couldn’t watch them flirt with other males on NS. Some ran out of inspiration.

On a more serious note, I think some people come here expecting that they’re gonna turn to a Chimamanda tomorrow. When that doesn’t happen, they stopped coming.

Finally, NS guys were also ready to turn the virtual romance into reality. The ones that did were nothing in real life like what they were online.

Finally, some just simply got bored due to menopause.

NS simply isn’t as interesting as it used to be. A lot of things are responsible. People began to be too formal and politically correct, and others began to take NS too personal. I also think the facelessness was better, meeting in real life has dampened things and removed certain respect and decorum. There is no more fun. I have even thought of leaving NS a lot of times myself. I was getting too much unnecessary attention. But the friends I have made on NS are the only reasons I am still on the site. Together, we (musketeers) have tried to make the site more fun. And @admin has tried, but much rules do not help matters. I remember when we all were clamoring for censorship and post quality, now am beginning to think that wasn’t a very good strategy. The site is for writers, we should endevour not to cramp anyone’s style through censorship. A critic left NS because his criticism was cesnsored by @admin. I don’t know how true it is sha.
People should not expect to get the kind of critics they like. I like the freedom and difference critics bring to works. I personally do not like when someone is being “nice and proper” on my works. But people are different. Let some attack and others construct, versatility. You will learn from both good and bad.
People do have a right to leave though. Some have jobs. I know I get on the site even from my office, which isn’t even allowed. Many of the ladies gained admission, got jobs, etc. A kot of the frequent commenters are students and unemployed graduates.
NS shouldn’t be a family so much. Other people could feel left out. No one should have even noticed the absence of females but for the personalization issue. Other sites do not have that problem. You log in, do your thing, say hi to your friends and log out. But here people want to date, marry or meet each other..
I don talk am before, NS is not a dating or a national site.

@kaycee…a meet z always bound 2 happen wen pple who havent met before, feel dey would want to, probably cos dey had luv 2 meet d genuis behind d work dey read each day..here is d thing..wen one gets 2 familiar wt something,he or she tends 2 get bored easily..mayhaps dey ve seen better options nd gone after em’(it aint marriage necessarily though)..dis coming frm sm1 who is barely a day old in naijastories..does it mean den dat i have missed d best part?..nd enjoying dis site is made more difficult by d fact dat i haven’t got d hang of anything in here..

@Kaycee there are also this bonding thing on all sites oh. Like some guys bond more than other. Cliques here and there. Making up, breaking up. That’s what keeps the Theatre Arts I went to interesting.

If you have it on NS, it should actually make the site better socially.

Keeping it faceless???? Seriously???? People can still marry and still be on NS. I think it just has to do with individuals. I can mention a Nigerian social site where they even have a cabal, lol. Most times what they say is final. It helps keep the place interesting.

Then I think people are too serious with writing that they stop enjoying. There will always be few Chimamandas in every generation. So one’s chances of being a Chimamanda is quite low. So why not come to NS, write cuz you enjoy it and go home and shag happily.

@Kaycee some people just dey too serious shah and it doesn’t help matters. But like Ryan Gosling said about Brits, more sex helps loosen the ‘uptightness’, lol.

@jaywriter..no u didnt jst type dat..boredom cld creep in at anytime jor..i am a classic example..i used 2 b addicted 2 a chat site..nd i mean i had 2 b online or i felt i would die of ‘boredom’ with all dat went on around me..lectures included..i went 2 d extent of bundling myself in clothes 2 keep warm cos i almost always had to go outside 2 get a better reception and i had b up chatting till say 4.m..now u wld say i nt jst liked..i loved it and lived 4 d times,i wld b pressing d keypad..but den oneday I reached BOreDomsVille..Nd dis days wen i manage 2 get dre..am lyk ‘what d heck?’,i try staying 4 sme mins and wt a sigh ,i wld log out..D part where u point d stories as being what lures u back here..i do believe,cos content is everything..
