It’s always a cliché to have resolutions and all that every year end. While some people make their resolutions in good faith, some just push on with the crowd and say whatever other people are saying.

So if you have made any (writing, writer’s) resolution(s) in good faith, please let us know about it. Who knows, someone here might help you stay focused enough to finish that first novel.

Also if there are any lessons you have learnt about writing or writers, please also share.

    My resolutions are:

-Spend more time with my kids. When they are older,it won’t matter how clean the house was but it will matter that we laughed and played together.
-Set up more time to write, anything.I have a lot of idea going through my mind but I don’t usually take time to try to develop them.Sometimes I find half poems when I file. I need to work harder and more regularly.
-Take time to enjoy life. It’s important to enjoy every minute of it when one can because we never know what will happen the next day.
-Try to get better at expressing what I mean in writing and use less of words like “like” and “very”.

The lessons I have learnt about writing:
-The more I work on a piece, the better it gets.
-I also learned to ask friends to read my pieces and let me know what they think, and apply their corrections.

@jefsaraurmax – Nice ones. About asking friends, I just found out that some people might love one genre and hate another. So I just send to those who understand and love the genres I love too. You get a much better criticism from them.

Then again, I realised that most writers love writing honestly. But while some do this honest loving for art’s sake, some do it for what I like to call ‘the f***, the fame and the fortune’.

Again, I have learnt that doing co-writing can be a very enjoyable thing. The joy of creating characters with someone else… amazing.

Finally, like I said last year or so. The rewards of writing may or may not come, so try and enjoy the journey. It’s usually what stays with you most of the time.

I resolved to just start writing. Some of my more favourable pieces were things I started scribbling when I was not in the mood to write. Either on the road, or just as I was about to sleep, while eating… As long as the ideas come, pour out my thoughts.
