Life never goes the way you want it, sometimes the unexpected happens. It happened to me too. But that is a story for another time
“It is Aina” I said as I turned to face my nemesis
“Oh, I know how to pronounce your name. I just wanted to make u angry”
Ladies and gentlemen, Bidemi.
This girl has been my worst enemy since I started schooling at my secondary school. She had hated me from the moment she saw me, at least that was what I thought. She is always disturbing me and never let’s me have peace of mind
“Bidemi. I really don’t have your time right now” I said to her hoping she would leave.
“So, even after I told u to get out of my school, you still decided to stay till the end”
“Can’t you go and pick on someone else” I said angrily
“You___” she beagn to say but was interrupted by Kemi whom Bidemi had always been scared of for reasons unknown to me
“Hey, Bitemi, scram” Kemi said pushing her of the chair and taking her place.
“My name is Bidemi not Bitemi” Bidemi said angrily
“Don’t care” my best friend said dismissing her
“So, Aina, what’s up?”
“Nothing o” I said sighing
“Don’t tell me that jo. I know u, and I know something is bugging you”
“Well, if you must know, my mum and dad are filing for a divorce”
“What!!” Kemi shouted, drawing the attention of other students in the buka where we were eating.
Our school was like 45 minutes away from our houses so my dad takes both I and Kemi to school on his way to work.
“Keep it down” I said shushing her.
“What!!!” She whispered
“I know right. I don’t know why they chose now to tell me. They could have just allowed me to finish my waec o. How will I focus on reading now”
Kemi stared at me for a while.
“Wait. Are u not worried that they are divorcing each other”
“Well, I never knew they would last this long, the argument actually started when we moved here. And it has continued non stop till now” I replied
“So if they divorce what will you do”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean who will you go with?”
“I won’t leave here if that’s what you are asking. Remeber we both made a promise to each other that we would both attend the same university”
“Yes, so don’t forget” Kemi said quietely
“I won’t” I replied staring into space
“Don’t worry. Things will get better” Kemi said patting my back
“I sure hope so”
I sure hope so.
But things never got better. Instead it got a lot worse.
Damn, wish my beauty could make me escape some life situations but that was not the case.
Such a vain thing it was. My Beauty.
