The Abuse

Like an injured mouse
She hid herself in the dark
Like a puma, he pounced
Eyes closed, she was cark
East called her name
Red! Red stream of pain
Sliver beads run down her cheek
He wore anger, thick
‘I’ll kill you today!’
She held her breath
She cuddled the pain
She embraced death.
Death wouldn’t arrive
She doesn’t wish to be alive
Gravity grips hard
As her cheek kissed his hand
Helpless and hopeless
Love failed her
Now, death’s deaf ear.
