Where I’m From

I’m from the place where the sun shines bright and the people are very shady,

I’m from the place where you are given four options but people would still tell you to shade E.

I’m from the place where the generally accepted norm is corruption,

I’m from the place where integrity and altruism ain’t even a core option.

I’m from the place where the rich and elite are granted impunity,

I’m from the place where the disease of hatred would get to you even with your immunity.

I’m from the place where the land is plagued with megalomaniacs,

I’m from the place where 95% of our leaders are egomaniacs.

I’m from the place where the spiritually weak people wither away like plants without nutrients,

I’m from the place where the landlord would evict you if you don’t comply and pay the new rent.

I’m from the place where people would rather support strangers even much more than their friends,

I’m from the place where people refuse to be real but they rather follow trends.

I’m from the place where in the university a 150-seater lecture hall is used to lecture 300+ people.

I’m from the place where girls get nude and show their bosoms but cover the nipple.

I’m from the place where I wrote this poem while sitting at the back of a lecture hall not paying attention.

I’m from the place where parents refuse to apologize to their wards and that causes dissension.
