Now, You’re Gone

Now you’re gone, I can see clearly
And feel the thrusts of new truths
Break the hymen of a veiled mind’s eye.
These emotions that were suppressed
Are waxing strong since you’re now gone.

for my sails are spreading out
and confidence is catching wind
In new truths and wild gusts
Notching like gales in mad haste
… towards doom’s rock.

You’re gone and ‘I feel strength’ should be my heart song.
I’m perplexed by the weakness of lovelorn hearts;
Instead of savoring aromas of freedom,
Prefer to relish in a lost love chain
And yearn for the confines of a deep hurt.

yet, my sails are spreading out
and confidence is catching wind
in new truths and wild gusts
notching like gales in mad haste
… towards doom’s rock.

My vitality has waned since you left.
The remnants: stacks of a zapped stalk,
Thriving on memories while suckling nurture’s sap.
I still linger around the hallways of afterthought
With a partial relief that you’ve finally gone.
while my sails are spreading out.

and confidence is catching wind
In new truths and wild gusts
notching like gales in mad haste
… towards doom’s rock.

Blotches and punes litter reminiscence’s canvas.
You’re gone and I’ll have to move on.
I’ll not smoothen the contours of a warped love,
Neither shall I ever entertain such lowly thoughts
Whatsoever, as to bringing you back.

for my sails have spread out
and confidence has caught wind
in new truths and wild gusts
notching in good haste
to a place better than doom’s rock.

  1. I just finished a poetry workshop course today and stylistically this is so gorgeous.the little off the side thing going on in italic is very ‘different.’ Any one can write a quick poem describing the feeling of losing someone but you’ve put in the effort of going into more depth. Kudos!

    1. @ufuomaotebele I’m so humbled that such beauty could be evoked from a supposed feel of loosing someone. It’s more thrilling that such beauties could be seen and described by a large literary hand. I am humbled and inspired to reach out more- daring to touch the aspects of living that are so subtle to the feel. Thank you for reading me
