Ask a Lover

Ask

If today was the day
You and I grew so old and pale
If today was the day
We’ll have to part ways without a wave
If today was the day
We’ll have to say goodbye without a smile
If today was the day
Our marriage vow loses its bound on us
If today was the day                                                                                                                We have to see ourselves before eternity beeps
And the clock ticks with its sound so real and quick
With the sun shining with its color so bright and mild
And the moon rises with its courage so brave and great
Then the day breaks as the clock ticks with its sound till the end
What would you do?

Love me some more?
Play with me like a doll?
Tell me all of those secrets in the wall?
Ask for that forgiveness like never before?
Show me all the fantasies in your skull?
Tell me you love till eternity comes?

If today was the day
We’ll have to say goodbye without a smile
What would you do?

  1. I’ll tell her all the secrets in the wall, ask for forgiveness like never before and promise to love her till eternity.

    nice write up @funmilolafash

I love the rhymes at the beginning of the first paragraph, was thinking you’ll take it to the end of the paragraph. Still, I enjoyed this piece

  2. Tough questions yet very meaningful. The third Stanza is really scary.Good work from you.

  3. I liked the thoughts behind the poem. How hard it can be to decide when time is fleeting.

Be aware of the tenses you use when considering situations that could happen (as you are doing in the poem). The first stanza of your poem should have been written thus:

    If today was the day
You and I had grown so old and pale
    If today was the day
We had to part ways without a wave
    If today was the day
We had to say goodbye without a smile
    If today was the day
Our marriage vow lost its bound on us
If today was the day We had to see ourselves before eternity beeps
And the clock ticks with its sound so real and quick
With the sun shining with its color so bright and mild
And the moon rising with its courage so brave and great
Then the day broke as the clock ticked with its sound till the end
    What would you do?

    Keep writing.
