Who Am I

Who Am I

When the heart is heavy
and hands can’t carry

When she bleeds from cuts
inflicted by hurt
Her tears thicker than blood
her fist-like teeth clinch her tongue
In the battle of words

when the heart is dark,
You seek an escape
from the days of yore,
but your legs are chained
to the ankle of fear.

When you wish to tell
but lack words to spill
I come as the mail man
bringing happy tales
in colourful words neatly wrapped.

Listen!

Who am I?
I am the voice in the dark
speaking peace to a troubled sea
to the lonely and deserted
a crony I have become,

I am the light shining upon dark days
I am neither white nor black
Neither tall nor short
neither fat nor thin
I know no segregation
you wanna know who I am?

I fight this silent battle
the pen as my pistol
Words as my amour
and the pad as my ally.

Who am I?
I am who I have been from yesteryears
revealing my being in diverse shades,
verses
and stanzas.

I bless, I curse
I break and I make amends
I ma ybe minute
but I kill faster than a stab

Who am I?
I dance upon the tongue of babes
even the old spits venom too
I am the lexicon of wisdom
I am words in motion
teleporting through time and distance
I tell of doom’s day and of fortune’s way

I am the ear that listens to your silent cries from pain
and also to your open shouts of victory
you wanna know who I am?

I am who I have been through time
I am the crime committed by rhymes

I am poetry.
