God bless this nation

We pour libation
In hope that hope will
Spring forth
The dawn of our liberation
This nation
Stands tall on crooked feet
Still the cure for our disease
Is a road less travelled
Or not travelled
Yet we pour libation
In hope that hope will
Spring forth

Year after year
We circumnavigate the roads
Of death and destruction
We set lofty goals
But ignore instructions
Wilfully blind
We seek the light
Yet ignore the injunction
To open our minds
So we pour libation
In hope that hope will
Spring forth

And so the merchants of hope
Feed fat on our delusion
A fleet of private jets,
Yet we can’t pay our kids’ tuition
Cos the God of the frequent flyer
Will take them higher
Or so we hope
So we pour libation
In hope that hope will
Spring forth

A penny for your thought
And a kobo for you vote
In the dead of the night
I will rob you of your coat
We will sing kumbaya
While praying for our nation
So go ahead and pour libation
In hope that hope will
Spring forth
The dawn of our
Liberation.

  1. I don’t want to ever completely lose hope but it is tough.

  2. …Yet we pour libation… Good poem sir
