No Secret At All

No Secret At All

( Dedicated to my wife, Lorine Udoka Chukwueke)

It’s a secret
I cannot keep;
It’s like liquid song
In my veins
– and my whole body
sings it:

It’s the truth of your words,
The youth of your smile
The depth of your wits
The strength of your love
For me
That makes me sing.

It’s the burn of your voice
Like menthol embers upon my drums;
The sway of your hips
that rocks my world;
the warmth of your touch
as the soul of a shooting star feels;
the taste of your tongue
that maddens my buds
with a hunger for more.

Closer, we dance
Till saline tides flush
The brown shores of our pores.
And stirred,
We hang our clothes
On the horizon
And mingle our heat
With the orange haze
Of the setting sun
– one grey silhouette.

It’s the scent of your skin,
Like the fragrance of paradise,
The smell of home,
Sweet home.

It’s no secret at all;
I’m in love with you,
Everyday, my ‘valentine.’

  9. Thanks, @sibbylwhyte.

    Before I got married, I’d been asking God for a woman that had a sense of humour and loved to read, amongst other qualities. And God said, “Yea and amen!” Then she came along. Just two months with her, I popped the question. I was perfectly sure she was the one. I have never regretted it…and I know I shant. Praise God! Halleluyah!! LOL.

    Thanks again.

  10. Wow! This is exactly what stories and dreams are made of. Those two qualities, dare I say that they are the top of my list for new friends and all.
    Have the time of your life bro and oh yes, give her a hug from me. Make sure you do it o. Tell her that Sibbyl says you are freaking lucky to have her. Hehe.

    1. If I tell her that Sibbyl says I’m lucky to have her, she’ll say, “I know I’m blessed to have you, Dearie. But, WHO THE HECK IS SIBBYL?” lol. Thanks for your kind words.

      1. Lmao! I’d ask the same colorful question.
