Boys yesterday, grown men today

Then we sought to be led,

now we must lead the way.

When we played football on the streets

with coins in our pockets

we ran to buy sweets.

Amazing how time flies

Memories of tears I shed

when the whip met my little back

because i has to get wisdom into my head.

Now I embrace manhood

I try to stay prepared and always do good.

Then we talked of the future

Now in it we feature.

It used to be “hide and seek” we played

Times have changed

Now we learn we must seek a wife

to provide for and protect for life.

Boys of yesterday, grown men today

Time waits for only nobody

Yesterday becomes history

when Today becomes the present

leaving tomorrow as a mystery.

In my years i have learnt that-

I must do my best one day at a time

    Nice write, and good construction.
“Boys yesterday, men today.” I like that.

    1. @basittjamiu thanks for the good comment.

  2. True. We shouldn’t just forget to enjoy every moment like the boys did.

Was “because i has to get wisdom into my head” intentional?

    1. @jaywriter thanks for noticing that mistake..that was a typo I would be more careful next time :)..Thanks for reading too.

  3. Well done. This is nice.

  4. “Growing up is the curse of a child”

    Original quote.

    1. @seun-odukoya…I do believe that growing up may not actually be the curse of a child. However, while a child grows up and he meets face-to-face with the realities of life, if he was not rightly taught how to grow up then he will actually be faced with the curse of growing up in the wrong way. Thanks for reading.
