The Poet and His Muse [Spoken Word]

The Poet and His Muse [Spoken Word]

The Muse

I met a crazy young man in a bus
who wrote about still crazier ones.
He had a head full of dreads
and asked if I thought him sick in the head
Dunno, said I, there might be more than meets the eye.
Every one is a crazy but some are fit to be tied..
Yours, seems of a different kind
the product of an artistic mind…
Did I say his name drove me nuts?
What kind of a name is Afronuts?

The Poet

In the midst of my thought process
I got a call from a damsel in distress
Asking to stop press and digress
Ignored in totality I did, I confess
Till she spat skills vivid and so intense
Called me a legume naughtily expressed
Her distress was the need to impress
And I find very amusing her cute excess
The cuteness which the looks in her eyes address
Wonder why she was by the name ‘SillyTina’ blessed
Did it have to do with her ability to dress?
Or is this just another wonder like a cockerel’s crest?

The Muse

This is just crazy ‘SillyTina’
trying her best to make you happier,
maybe you would smile at this and its writer
and that surely would make your day brighter.
Anyways I just wanted to say ’Hey’.
It is a day for friends and it’s Sunday.

The Poet

Sunday was just yesterday
one to worship, rest and play
And I didn’t have an excuse not to pray
’Cause in life you never have the final say
So I lifted up my voice loud as I may
That for my skills I be shown the way
And for friend SillyTina who bubbles everyday
to remain that ever refreshing and hopeful ray
inpiring my intellect, posing my muse in everyway
To you dear friend I holla back ’Hey’!

The Muse

Open Nutty brain and Spill
Words formed in your brain at will
Spill until the mind goes still,
spent of the words we would read to our fill
And make us exclaim, These words are real!
Drawing us back to it like a patient on a daily pill

Type Nuts Type!

The Poet

Wait a minute as I make a comeback bit by bit
Working my imagination like a sumptuous banana split
I’m searching for a theme or subject that’ll tightly fit
One present with richness of cleverness and wit
All I know I’ve got to amuse and most definitely hit
With words that to all will most assuredly stick
I got them stored, don’t need to steal or cheat

See how SillyTina mused and made me itch
Searching for a theme I can’t decide which
Archive’s rich enough to carve me a niche
Still, the indecision got me knot up in a stitch

The Muse

Just wanted to say hi
it’s been a long while,
hope this makes you smile,
and if it does, may it reach your heart
cause someone wishes you well from some corner on earth.

The Poet

Howdy dear SillyTina
Been a while since I hailed ya
Been all over the place lately
Though not on NS unfortunately
Missed this site very much too
Maybe not as much as I missed you
So much I’ve seen, so much to say
My head’s been saturated everyday
Poetry and prose ideas have totally taken me
Got to spill them, or they won’t let me be
Looking for the time and space
I need to get my ass back in the NS race

Thus I wrote almost a year ago

Time’s changed to and fro

Exit SillyTina my former muse

Enter JollyFina a gifted one to amuse

  1. LOL…funny piece, especially towards the end. I prefer Jollytina too :)

    1. @Myne…you sound like you already know her

  2. This is so cool…

    1. Thanks @topazo . Do you write for yimu central?

  3. I just remembered Emmanuella now.

The right touch of romance. The right touch of weirdness. The right touch of avante garde.

The artist-muse relationship is always a fascinating one and you beautifully captured it here.

Here to more Silly Tinas. And to Jolly Tinas that’ll ‘stay’. You know how it is.

  5. Really liked the first verse by the muse.
    Very funny, it all.

  6. Hehehe…nice one afro. I especially like how it all ended with JollySilly. ;)

  7. I enjoyed this back and forth. These lines especially
    ‘Open Nutty brain and Spill
Words formed in your brain at will
Spill until the mind goes still,
spent of the words we would read to our fill’
    SillyFina had better stay longer.

  8. @Afronuts dude you never cease to amuse me, read your posts on the prompt competition for the 1st two weeks really funny, I even voted for one, the one where the guy walked with a bucket over his head to avoid some girls clocking him.

This is great and made me really think.

Hey please check out my 1st post on NS and leave a comment on what you think good or bad.
