As promised, here is the longlist of the ‘Poetry of the Everyday Nigeria’ competition.

Unfortunately, there were many entries which, even though they were of good quality, did not qualify. The main issue was that they did not conform to the requirement that the poem must be about an (i.e. a single) everyday (i.e. common) event that occurs frequently in the life of a Nigeria.

The poems in the longlist are as follows:

Mobile Doctor – Eletrika
The Alien in Me – Anzaa Msonter
The Coup – Anderson Paul
The Way Her Light Shines On Me – Jefsaraurmax
Bomb In My Bra – Henry C Onyema
Change – Uche
