LIMBO!
We have been waiting for Beckett’s Godot
thinking the games would meet an end
yet, his Godot isn’t the Endgame
this endless waiting has got to end.
The Godot we seek is here with us
the very presence we can’t fathom
our gifted country in a Limbo
because we wait for Mr. Rambo.
How come my people frown at nature?
thinking their nation nature can’t nurture
why can’t our nation nurture nature?
isn’t the problem in human nature?
Crude is the soil we can’t refine
complex the leaders we can’t define
all isn’t well and yet we’re fine
some die of hunger where others dine.
We know the way but go astray
instead of stay we run away
when did Rome become a home
while some wander, some others roam.
Naija people, better people!
stop the waiting and take to acting
manna no longer falls from yonder
all we needed nature placed under.
Sons and Daughters, at home or yonder
Nigeria’s call we must obey
don’t watch and let them murder NAIRA
the fate of a nation is in a Limbo.
Be the Rambo to kill the Limbo
that our nation may see the rainbow
stop the waiting, take to action
safeguard our nation for the next generation.

Nicely written.
We pray for this our country.
Beautifully written.
I’m tired of hearing people cry over Nigeria. Take action if you have to. If not, fold your hands and just watch.
@babyada #Gbam
Prayer?! Well, okay.
“Naija people, better people!
stop the waiting and take to acting
manna no longer falls from yonder
all we needed nature placed under.”
I like these lines….almost encapsulates everything that is good and wrong with this country.
We all will be here…see how it all pans out.
Lovely piece ma’am….(?)
Lovely Poem. Very rhythmical. I liked the beautiful use of some figures of speech here. Well done.
@mildredhughes Now that’s a beautiful writ.
It’s all in us to save our country from it’s damnation.
Say a prayer for naija, it shall be well with thee
Limbo? Beautiful concept but I think its contrast was sudden.Lines one reads: /We have been waiting for Beckett’s Godot/ and then lines eight and nine was almost a distraction.
our gifted country in a Limbo
because we wait for Mr. Rambo.
Perhaps you were carried away by the rhymes.Take a look at it again.*Just my opinion*
On the whole however, you brought a germane issue in the Nigeria socio-political space to lime light.Well done
