HEAR, GODDESS OF LIGHT

Can a heart melt
Like frozen wax
Lost in awe
Of a candle’s flame?

But you are
Unlike the wax consuming flame.
For in you, I am refined,
Not consumed!

Yet, like the wax,
My will is liquefied
And my wall is but molten stone,
As I stand before thee.

Oh goddess divine,
Stalk, crowned in petals,
Whose fragrance makes a sheep
Of the lion in me;

Cast your sunny gaze
At this son of Ife,
That his darkened heart
May know light again!

Hmmm! Nice rhymes. As for the picture of the “goddess”, she’s got a lovely smile. Is she your sister? I see or imagine some resemblance……

    Nice poem, lucky girl.

But the simile, ‘like frozen wax’ is awkward, where just ‘ice’ or ‘wax’ would have sufficed.

    Well done.

Kelechi, thanks a lot. However, I hope you are aware that wax is either MOLTEN or FROZEN/SOLID. So mere wax is incomplete. Thanks for reading.

I couldnt read the poem, i was busy reading that picture.
Be kind to me xikay, and tell that picture of me, and how i am so wonderful.

It is a nice piece, and i pray too, that the goddess of light would hear your prayer and look kindly on you.
The lady in the picture is pretty, i’m wondering…..is she this goddess?

    Hit!

Though tis’ only upon paper and pen can I write for love.

@ xikay cos beauty is fleeting and the devil was once an angel.
I don’t doubt there are angels and this could be one, I only
trust pen and paper for their love is immortal.

Man, you go places. Good piece always.

@lactoo I am only afraid I can’t stop thinking, the more I reflect, the most I write.
I am afraid too to get back to the corpus, but would soon do. Thanks.
