Can you recall his name?
The name of the man you met in grade six
Who didn’t need to say much before you smiled
Can you remember his face?
The face of the physician who first felt your tiny breasts
And said to you -young woman
Remember the looks of the lad who played with you
And made you scream your mother’s name in the rain
Can you?
Can you remember the athlete who taught you summersaults
And the guy with whom you went hunting in the wild
Recall the boy who bought you Pringles and bonbon
And thought you how to wear a bra
The same guy who rode you round town on his scooter
When you came of age, sixteen
And made you feel like a balloon atop a bloom of hibiscus
Yes, the guy who poured his spirit into yours and made you giggle
With whom you went to the Central square to choreograph the samba dance
O, remember the wizard who mentored you in painting and calligraphy
If you cannot recall all of these men how then will you recall my name
Or my personality
When all I did was pull you up and give you strength
To be all that you used to be; a happy ma’am
Before someone came
And suckled out your memory away

Really nice, especially how it ended. Well done.
Picked up and ended splendid
Lol, Of course i remember your name,
But mouth must not utter all that the mind whispers,
Of course i recall your arms as the picked me up
From my despair and helped me
Stand smile sing and shine again,
Of Course I remember your name….
BEAUTIFUL!
Ok, sunshine…’So you remeber’. lol. Thank you for stopping by
I love this write. So poignant with a hint of sadness, the sadness of regret mixed with a knowing acceptance of unimportance, a face in the crowd, unremembered.
Fervency, Chemokopi(sounds like choamsky to me). Thanx
