They say walls have ears
I rest assured say walls have tongues; they talk
At least to me, they do
So I’ll give ears to the gist of their words
I’ll listen intently to their voice
Sometimes hushed; other times vociferous
On the latest of occurrences—
“A don get bele”
“B go soon marry”
“C dey sleep with another woman”
—concerning sides besides my end
Then I’ll spread their words:
“Tori dey o!”
I’d say
To whomever cares to listen;
To whomever would hear the latest gist
On A, on B, even on C
I’d say this
In a tone too hushed to be overheard
And should I be asked
“How you take know?”
I’ll say the walls with tongues told me so
