And We All Cried!

On the road to Damascus
Saul’s futility was laid waste
Pursuing a life of aggression
All in the name of religion
But in encounter with a vision
His ego left delusion
Putting him on the track that matters
He forsook the vain things of life

Days ago they all left the capital
On the ‘airy’ road to Lagos
Flying on the wings of a machine
Never knowing when the last flight would be
Only to crash into these houses with speed
A little boy cried, ‘where is my mum?’
But the innocent mother was gone with the wings

Oh God, Save us from this gory tales
Of our leaders not being careful for standards
But caring alone for their purses
Only to make our lives like toys to the moguls
Who come into the country with their business
Claiming to invest but sucking our blood
And leaving us drained till our tales are gone
Even if their licenses were revoked
Can the dead come back to life again?

On the ‘airy’ road via Abuja
I remember the people who died
On a black Sunday in the month of June
They say a leader never cries in a place where he leads
But their tragic incidence couldn’t leave with no tears
Even making it to become a national horror
Yes; the president cried; and we all cried.
