  1. Nice initiative, but the Cost of Submission already makes it exclusive. Is it N1 for 1 Word o_O?

Good luck to those who enter.

  2. One thing excites me in this contest: the group writers. But pray, how does this work? Would the writers submits just one jointly-written story or each writes individual pieces and submit together, both stories coming under the 5000 word limit?
The entry fee makes this sincerely exclusive but then…@annemuyiwa.
    Banky

    • Yes, the work may be jointly or individually done as members of the group decide but the submission must come under the 5000 word limit. I bet most mobile phone users spend 5k within a month if not a week. Sacrifice is what makes talent shine.

  3. The fee could have been set for N500 and thousands would enter yet we know our package will go to 1-5 people. We mean business and intend to support winning entries to publish and launch the selected work. Contestants have the option of entering as a group of 1-5 people, if a group entry wins the contest, the publishing package will go to the group. The idea is to run the contest quarterly so that annually we can make publishing a possibility for 2-5 serious aspiring writers. All submissions will receive feedback; this would go a long way to help such writers improve their work.

Best wishes to those who believe in themselves and are ready to put their work to test at the price of reaping a higher benefit.

  4. @banky…I sense what makes you excited about this….Goodluck K?..

  5. For the rich, just like almost every other things in the country.

  6. Maybe its just me, i hate contests that have entry fees!

  7. Me too, i hate contests with entry fee.

  8. A number of contests don’t state fees but you’d be shocked at how much folks end up paying. The deadline for the ANA Prize was yesterday; a number of the announcements stated that you need to show proof of dues. What dues? Those who registered may end up coughing out 8k as registration for membership (3k) and annual dues (5k). No where was the exact amount to be paid stated and no where was it stated that contestants would need to become members of ANA to apply. So why pay 8k? Why not just the registration or the dues?

Entering for ANY contest is a choice.

There is a 5k fee for the WRITE Now contest. Every one who applies gets a review of the submitted work; a friend recently paid 30k to have her work reviewed by seasoned journalists and writers. So already that’s value for the 5k. One to five winners gets a publishing package worth N100, 000. This includes publishing, publicity and media launch of the developed work.
