To round up the launch of the Naija Stories anthology, below are the winners of free paperback copies of the book through the small writing contest we ran last week. Writers were scored out of 10 for writing stories of not more than 5 sentences, based on one of the sections or a title of one of the stories (there are 4 sections and 30 titles).
Even though the timing was short, we got quite a number of good short stories that spoke to the title or theme chosen. A few however, were betrayed by typos, missing words, or bad sentence structure. Some writers tried to squeeze in too much into their 5 sentences while not ensuring that their flash was about any particular thing. That said, thanks to everyone that took part.
The Winners are;
1.Thomasmann – 9points for a story with the theme Kisses
2. Chemo – 9points with the title ‘What Theophilus Did’
3. Mex – 9points for a story titled ‘Blame it on a Yellow Dress’
4. Annabella – 9points for a story titled ‘Best Laid Plans’
5. Nida – 9points for a story titled ‘If Tears could speak’
