Tear-laden sky

We appreciate your empathy

But, like the mess of a fallen egg

Some things cannot be undone

Your torrential tears have appeased the earth

That the grave might be an easy dig

Weep no more and give way

Let us plant him, who has become stilled

Perhaps he would return at harvest

Because my new bride shall soon take in.

  11. Very powerful and the best poem I have read on Naija Stories in a while. Great Job @onireke!

Sure, it is reminiscent of Abiku as @lelouch said but it is still so sublime. Those first four lines are so full of beauty to me. It’s classic! Well done, well done, well done!!!!
