The African Writing Prize for Flash Fiction has released results of the competition which we also announced here on Naija Stories. One of our members was shortlisted, and is happy to share his joy with us.
Jeff Unaegbu is an active member of Naija Stories, and his story “PREY” was among the 8 Short-listed Stories. All the winning entries will feature in the next edition of the magazine. We are very happy for Jeff, and congratulate him, Onyinye Ihezukwu (also a member of Naija Stories), and other winners. You can read samples of Jeff’s work HERE, or Onyinye’s short story for a Naija Stories contest is HERE.

Sarah Ladipo Manyika, whose book Independence was published in Nigeria by Cassava Republic, was the judge of the competition, and she said of the competition,
“Although not everyone wins in these competitions, I can honestly say that there were kernels of good writing and creative thought in most of the submissions.”
You can read more of her letter on the African Writing Website.
We encourage all our members to take part in writing competitions, especially when they’re free to enter. Contests help you to improve, and it is doubly useful when you can get comments and feedback from more established writers and authors.
